Do you love to dance?
Good news! You can dance your way to health.
Dancing will:
1) Lower your risk of coronary heart disease.
2) Help keep the heart in shape and can lead to a reduced heart rate over time.
3) Help you manage or lose weight.
4) Strengthen the bones of your legs and hips.
5) Condition the body.
6) Build and increase stamina.
7) Develop the circulatory system
8) Strengthen and tone muscles.
9) Increase flexibility and balance.
10) Relieve stress and improve mood.
11) It may lower blood pressure and improve cholesterol levels.
12) Allows you to just plain have fun!
At least a dozen good things for you and your body!
Different types of dancing burn more calories. Aerobic dancing being the highest, 540 plus calories an hour.
Ballroom dancing burns 250 to 400 calories an hour, square dancing about 280, ballet 300, salsa dancing around 420.
You may not be able to dance a full hour but if you can dance for 10 to 20 minutes 3 times a day you'll benefit.
Heck, you can just put on some music that makes you want to shake your boodie and make up your own dancing.
If you check at your local community centers or collages, you can generally find dance classes at a reasonable rate.
I'm working on a routine for our next set of workout DVDs that gets your hips shaking and your feet kicking!
The point is to keep moving! And dancing is a fun way to do that.
Happy Thanks Giving!
