EXERCISE

Getting more exercise is generally at the top of the list for New Years resolutions. That's a great thing!

Exercise does so much for you! It burns fat, strengthens your muscle and your bones as well as so many other health improvements...the list is long.

One thing it can't do is decide where your fat will be reduced from. In other words, spot reduction is a myth. Anyone selling you on that is taking your money.

Yes, you can get tighter abs and a firmer butt...but, the fat on top of the muscle can't be determined by an exercise program.

If you're at your goal weight improving the appearance of your abs and butt are very doable...there is no excess fat to hide the results.

Your body takes fat from the largest source first when you are losing weight.

If you have a tendency to gain weight in your belly, that will go first. If you have a tendency to gain in your butt and thighs...that's where you will lose first.

If you are a pear type body shape (small upper body and large in the hips and thighs)...you won't become and hour glass shape when you lose weight, just a smaller pear shape.

Learning to accept your body type is important. Then you can work at making it the best looking body within that shape.

I'm an H type...straight up and down! I have small breasts and hips. Unless I pay for breast implants and hip implants I will never change. I do have a bodacious butt tho...LOL my husband adores it. No hips but plenty of boodie in the rear.

I've learned to dress well for my body type and to do lots of push ups to at least have some cleavage...all from muscle of course. Buying clothes is a challenge with my hips but ...hey...that's what tailors are for.

I would highly suggest focusing on your best body for the New Year...and let go of the false claims made by some workouts to give you six pack abs and skinny thighs.

If you're born with the tendency for a six pack and skinny thighs...great! If not you're heading for some disappointment.

All women are beautiful! Becoming your best is the best goal!
